Provide Community Donates £5,000 to SEND Children’s Charity
17 Feb 2023
Governors from Provide Community paid a visit to Happy Hill’s headquarters in Braintree to present a cheque for £5,000 to local volunteers.
Established in 2018, Happy Hill offers a range of trips and activities to children with special educational needs and disabilities, both in its local hall and out in the community. The charity works with children and young adults from 3 to 25 years old, organising Saturday, Evening and Holiday Clubs to families with SEND children who may not have any other clubs to go to outside of school time.
As a community-interest company, Provide Community reinvests all of its profits back into the communities it serves. As part of a new initiative, the healthcare organisation reached out to its members and asked for nominations of charities that they felt would benefit from additional funding. Happy Hill was put forward by Claire Harbridge, a Speech and Language Therapist at Provide Community.
Heather Hill, Founder of Happy Hill, said; “Families with SEND children often lock down due to a fear of encountering horrible comments and mistreatment in public. As a charity, we aim to empower these families by working closely with them to signpost where they can receive help and providing care support wherever we can.”
The £5,000 donation will be put towards the purchase of extra buses to enable the charity to continue taking its children on valuable trips and days out.
Heather continues; “There are not enough words to express how thankful we are for Provide Community’s donation. Our families are struggling at the best of times. When they come to our facility, we see first-hand the benefit to the families and the individual children. We share the smiles, the laugher, the tears and every achievement. Really, the reward of all this, is thanks to organisations like Provide, because without YOU, we cannot do what we do. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.”
